Inconclusive (2)

I am horrifically indecisive. There are times in my life when my indecision gets in the way of other people, such as holding up a table at a restaurant because I need a few more minutes to pick something, or taking so long to figure out what to wear that I end up being late.

I see this sometimes in the professional wrestling world, how the mere appearance of indecision on a promoter's behalf can be frustrating. I've seen plenty of people on various platforms commenting about how it's "lazy" to have a match between rivals end in a draw. I disagree. It's a fantastic narrative device for extending a storyline, which is very prominent in pro wrestling.

On my post featuring mutual knockouts I received a kind series of comments from an anonymous user inquiring about my list of matches with similar endings. I'd never actually written my list down before, it was just a series of mental notes, but after they reached out again on Instagram I couldn't help but compile an actual list. I hope to make this a bit of a series, every now and then taking three or so matches from that list and constructing a set of mini-reviews. I won't post the full list here, but if anyone wants it please feel free to reach out to me on Instagram or Twitter/X. My DMs are open.

Once again, spoilers after the jump.

#128 (Custom) - Bo Bearly vs. Grizzly Jim 7 - Entanglement

Starting off strong with a very familiar pairing, we have Bo Bearly (in black) and Grizzly Jim (in red) going at it once again. Unlike most of their previous bouts this time they face each other on the mat rather than in a ring. Hosted on FFE's Watchfighters, this match is labelled as a custom. How much of the match was directed is unknown to me, but what I do know is that Bo and Jim put on a fantastic show.

This match has a slower (but not too slow) pace compared to some other mat battles. That, in part, is due to the match stipulation of "entanglement". After some tense grappling, featuring a great double headscissors early on, the Bearly Bros get so locked up in the legs that it looks like they've tied themselves into a knot. They stay in a similar position for much of the match, working hard to make the other submit. There are even times where it looks like they're trying to break each other's legs.

The bears continue to roll around, belly to belly, yanking at their hair and beards, before finally ending up in an exciting final chokehold. The camerawork is great, capturing much of the action from a low angle, occasionally getting in close for some fantastic shots.

They've fought each other a lot, both for FFE and UKWH, so there's plenty of material to get through if you're a fan of the Bearly Bros. Fans of mutual KOs will be pleased to know this isn't the only match that I could've used in this post.

MPJ vs Red Redemption - Catfight!

On the opposite end of the body type spectrum we have a cracking match from creator MPJ (barefoot), featuring Red Redemption (red socks). Both men have numerous matches under their proverbial belts. MPJ has featured in several FFE productions, as has Red, though Red also has credits in a great collection of UKWH matches too.

This match takes place entirely on the bed of what I assume is a hotel room. It's a wonderfully scrappy catfight featuring two well-matched opponents. There's no preamble, with both men jumping into the action without hesitation. All of the hair pulling, chokes, and ball busting really amp up the intensity. What really gets me about this match are the sadistic smiles on their faces when locking each other into something painful. It's something that I feel is sometimes missed in a lot of matches nowadays.

MPJ and Red up the ante in the final third of the match. The holds get tighter, more painful, and definitely hotter. Fans of skinny guys tearing each other to pieces in a wrestling match will love this. MPJ and Red squeeze, choke, and beat the hell out of each other, all resulting in an ending that just made me want more.

As a side note, if you love foot fetish content, MPJ is an excellent creator for you to check out.

The 3rd Scissors Tape - PWP Wrestling

The final match in this set of mini-reviews is from a studio that hasn't featured on this blog before: PWP Wrestling. It's a studio based out of Stock Bar, a gay strip bar in Montréal, Canada that has been open since 1991. Their roster, I assume, consists entirely of their strippers who may have wanted to try something different. PWP produced a variety of matches early on but went on a long hiatus. The bar came under new management in early 2023, and has since produced a handful of matches this year. You can find a few reviews of these newer matches (as well as older ones) on Ringside at Skull Island.

Anyway, this match is the "3rd Scissors Tape", a series of DVDs featuring matches with plenty of scissors. Their website lists four Scissors Tapes, but I did find a fifth after one Google search. The DVD in question here contains five (!) matches featuring The Rebel (red trunks), Danny D (pastel blue trunks), Pistol Pete (light blue trunks), and Eric Legros (yellow trunks), in various matchups which are all pretty good.

The match I want to focus on is match 5, the round robin. It mainly featured Eric getting passed around as the scissor victim between the other three, poor guy. He first suffers between Rebel's thighs, then Danny's, and Pete's. He does get his own back a few times though, notably against the smaller Pete, but not for long. The cycle continues with Eric as the jobber for the other wrestlers. However, a great twist later in the match comes in the form of Rebel's arrogance. Danny, looking to tag out, gets scissored instead by the red trunk hunk! In his cockiness, Rebel forgets about Pete lurking in the background and ends up being the third victim in the glorious scissor chain. However, Pete's put himself in harm's way and ends up in Eric's scissors once more, resulting in a fantastic 4-way headscissors! It's unique, it's long, and really makes the whole match worth it in my eyes.
