Travis Maverick vs Blayne - American Beefcake Wrestling

Only a few weeks ago I blogged about a match from new studio American Beefcake Wrestling, featuring the return of Thunders Arena fan favorite Blayne to the underground scene. Not wanting to stop there, this new American Beefcake Wrestling match brings in another fan favorite from various studios, Travis Maverick! He looks like he's been taking great care of himself in his time off.

They reached out to me on Instagram not too long ago asking me to check this out, and after seeing the two names involved I could only oblige.

Blayne seems to enjoy Travis's figure as much as the rest of us. He puts Travis in a variety of compromising positions and takes those opportunities to let his hands explore the peaks and valleys of his physique.

Travis doesn't seem to mind Blayne's ulterior motives for fighting. What he does have a problem with is his methods. After flipping the script and getting some of his own back, he allows Blayne to feed into his desires, this time from underneath him.

After some comments I made in my last review, ABW assured me that their new camera made a huge difference to their audio and video quality. That is certainly true. Footsteps in the ring no longer sound like thunder and the way Travis squirms when Blayne grabs his nipples is captured in great quality.

What follows is a deliciously back-and-forth battle that includes a great variety of moves like an armbar, bodyscissors, a sleeper, and several other well-executed moves. I was a big fan of the double clothesline that emphasized how well-matched these two are. I think Blayne and Travis have excellent chemistry and I'm excited to see how their time at ABW develops.

In my previous review I noted that they were a little rough around the edges. That wasn't intended to be a criticism, just a reminder of what to expect from a new company's first batch of videos. It was still great, however, but there were obvious areas for growth. ABW have seriously stepped up since their first few matches because the improvement is clear. This was a really fun and exciting match, and I'm glad ABW brought it to my attention.

If you're looking for a brutal, balls to the wall kind of fight with a devastating finish, this isn't the match for you. But that doesn't mean Travis and Blayne pull their punches—I hope my review thus far and the GIFs above are evidence of that. At its heart this match is playful. The banter is smooth, the guys are hot, and the wrestling is great. With the way the world has been turning lately, we could all use a bit less animosity in our lives.
