One Year Later

Somehow I've done it, I've been blogging for a year!

When I started Clinches and Quandaries I wasn't sure if I'd make it past one month, let alone twelve of them. I didn't even know if I'd like blogging. To my surprise it was a blast. Having this outlet to express my thoughts (or just gush over hot guys) provided me with some much needed catharsis in what has been a particularly turbulent year personally.

Somehow, in one year, Clinches and Quandaries has been visited almost 17,000 times, which is bonkers to think about. It's not massive by any means, but it's hugely more than I ever could have predicted.

When I spewed some word vomit that became my first post exactly one year ago today I never expected the trajectory of this blog. A week after my second post, Clinches and Quandaries popped up as a Blog of Interest over at Sean Pford's Inner Jobber, much to my surprise. It's only been up from there. Seriously, close to 3,000 of the views of my blog have come directly from Inner Jobber. Thank you so much, Sean.

Anyway, I've seen some other blogs make a list of their most popular posts during that year, so I'll do the same here with a top 5.

Wrestling and Relationships: An Interview with Ash DeLeon

Easily my most viewed post. After I'd asked Ash to use a couple of pictures for a different post (which I will talk about under here), he kindly answered some of my questions about his relationship with wrestling and of course Freddy Campbell. It's length, but well worth the time. Ash was incredibly open and detailed with his answers. He's a great guy and comes across so well.

Gut Punishment: Grappling with Growing Popularity

Another very early post. Here I tried to explore the underground wrestling community's fairly recent fascination with gut punishment. I very briefly delved into the history of adoration of the male form, wrestling, and kink. I also had my first interview with Ash DeLeon, who is someone I regard as one of the pre-eminent authorities on the subject of gut punishment.

Men's Furious Catball Fight! - Doom Maidens Wrestling

Coming in a close third place is my review of what is still my favorite underground wrestling match. The term 'catball' was new to me before coming across this, but after watching I feel like I understand it completely. Diablo and Joe get rough, tangled, and sweaty as they roll across the mat room like there's no tomorrow.

Down and Out: Fond Memories

In this set of mini reviews I discuss great matches from currently inactive studios: Colby Jansen vs Trent Diesl, by Naked Kombat; Nick Karras vs Drew Harper, by 88Wrestling; Callum v Dimitri 19, by wrestle4afee; and Quinn Harper vs Chase Michaels, by UCW. All of these videos are excellent and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Featured Move: Crotch-to-Face Pin (2)

The final stop on this list is the crotch-to-face pin's second time around as a Featured Move. That particular collection of images contains sweat, oil, three simultaneous pins, and of course, plenty of bulge-to-face contact.

I don't have much else to say other than thank you for reading! Here's to another year. :)
